BIOGRAPHY

Peter Hebert is, among other things, an independent filmmaker, web developer and graphic designer. He currently lives in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Peter started in communications over 10 years ago, after graduation from Algonquin College's Television Broadcasting program. He has worked in the television, video production, graphic design, web design, multimedia, and audiovisual industries. He currently employed in the Web Services team at the Department of National Defence, and who are responsible for the DND/Canadian Forces website (www.forces.gc.ca).

Peter completed his first short film, Lucky - or Not?, in 2005. In addition to directing and producing, he shot and edited the film. The film made its debut at the Ottawa Student and Independent Film Festival in March of 2005. The film is now available for purchase on DVD, and for free download on Peter’s web site under a Creative Commons licence. He is currently developing several new film projects. Peter is also a member of the SAW video cooperative.

Peter’s experience includes extensive work in event videography, including sports and wedding videos. Peter also worked on several award-winning multimedia CD-ROMs (including Québec and l'Encyclopédie de l'inforoute). He was a founding partner in the independent music site, thesetunes.com (later thesetunes.ca). The site became a leading promoter of the independent music scene in Canada, staging many club shows in Montreal, and the FringeTunes Battle of the Bands at the Montreal Fringe Festival in 2001. 

In his spare time, Peter likes to keep fit by playing hockey, taking his girlfriend Hélène's yoga classes, and walking his dog. He also loves watching movies.
